The name Rival is the result of the two founding members of the company: Matthew Ryan and Justin Volpato. A name was required that set the young web design firm apart from others, whilst sending clients a clear message on the quality of the websites and services offered.

Matthew Ryan – Lead Designer/Developer

One of the founding partners of Rival, Matthew has worked in the web industry for 7 years, freelancing and doing contract based design and development. In 2006, he was awarded with the “Best of Nation for Australia” in the Worldskills competition. Following this success he competed in Japan in 2007 on an international platform, and was awarded with a medallion of excellence for his work. Matthew is experienced in a variety of different programming languages and design methods, including PHP, ASP.NET, Flash, ColdFusion, and Ruby-on-Rails. He aims to bring clients richer, more fulfilling web experiences.

Matthew also is a dedicated teacher for NSW TAFE, helping other  young web developers break into the industry by teaching them the skills they need to succeed.

Justin Volpato – Lead Marketing Specialist

Our Lead Marketing Specialist Justin Volpato has been our marketing leader since the beginning. Justin received a Bachelor’s of Commerce – Marketing from Macquarie University, and is enthusiastic about the growing online market and the number of new ways businesses can promote and sell their product and services. His background in marketing allows Justin to employ methods of increasing online sales and creating strong, powerful brands for Rivals clients, and his adaptation of marketing principles to the online environment has benefited many.

In recent years Justin has met his calling with Magento Ecommerce. Justin strives to produce top quality code using both his skills as a web developer and his interest and background in marketing.
